Hi Capital Stampers!
Happy New Year! I set some ambitious goals for my paper-crafting this year. One of them was to use up 5 packs of Designer Series Paper in my stash. When I took an inventory of my paper to see how much I really had, I counted 200 full sheets of 12x12 DSP from the various packs I've collected over the years. Wow!
Needless to say, I love Designer Series Paper! I also love FREE products! So, when I saw the new Sale-a-Bration catalog with FIVE packs of 12x12 DSP available free with a $50 order, I picked out two favorites that I had to have right away. One of the perks of being an Independent Demonstrator with Stampin' Up is that we can pre-order from the new catalog, and earn Sale-a-Bration items, before the customer sales period begins. So, I took advantage of that to get my hands on my two DSP picks early!
The two packs I chose for FREE with my order were Flight & Airy and Softly Stippled.
The pictures hardly do them justice. I flipped through them briefly during my Facebook Live yesterday, which you can watch here.
I haven't been able to cut into the Flight & Airy DSP yet (it's just too pretty), but I made a few cards with the Softly Stippled, and I really like how they turned out. The Softly Stippled DSP coordinates with the Stippled Roses stamp set and dies from the new January-April Mini Catalog, but even though I don't have that particular bundle, I think I have a lot of stamp sets in my collection that will work nicely.
This card uses a 3" x 4" piece of the DSP with the stippled rose images in Pebbled Path. I used my Real Red and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends to color in the roses and the leaves, then adhered the DSP to a 3 1/8" x 4 1/8" piece of Real Red Cardstock. The larger background mat is from the same DSP, a tone-on-tone paintbrush stroke pattern in Pebbled Path. The sentiment is from Go-To Greetings and stamped with Pebbled Path ink on a piece of Basic White that I cut with the label die from the Gorgeously Made Dies. I used the Bough Punch for the leaves, which I punched from Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock.
I made another sample with the same pieces of DSP, but instead of Real Red, I colored the roses with Pool Party Stampin' Blends.
The other card I made during my Live used a similar layout, with a 3" x 4" piece of DSP with the Calypso Coral and Wild Wheat flowers as the focal point. The background of this card uses a similar paintbrush pattern with Wild Wheat. I stamped the plaid design in Wild Wheat ink directly on the DSP with Sketched Plaid stamp. Yes, you CAN stamp on your DSP! The sentiment comes from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set and punched with the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch. I adhered it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals. Underneath the label is some White 3/4" Frayed Ribbon, which is retired, but currently available on the Clearance Rack (while supplies last).
I made another sample of that card using a different pattern of the DSP in Lost Lagoon, Pool Party and Wild Wheat, and stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink.
I enjoyed making these cards using this Designer Series Paper pack. Best of all, I got it FREE, and you can get it too with any order of $50 or more (before tax and shipping). If you want to see all the items available during Sale-a-Bration, you can go to my online store here. The free items are available while supplies last, or until the sale ends on February 29, 2024.
Happy Stamping!
Michelle
Here is a list of some of the supplies I used to make these cards.
